talkin' 'bout my generation

My neighbor has decided that she is too stately and majestic to have a blog. I contended that she has given up her place in the Information Generation. This sparked discussion of the title of our generation. Abby's consultation yielded the following information:
I have missed a lot of generations. I am especially sorry to be left out of the "transcendental generation" (1782-1921), the Lost Generation (they are definitely the most romantic, I've always liked them), and Generation X, which I just missed, and which has a much better name than all the lame names of my own. "Generation Y" doesn't sound nearly as cutting edge, just like a hastily contrived follower of the alphabetical bandwagon, and also sort of soft, like "yellow" and "yucca" rather than "xtreme" and such. The alternative names are even more loserful. I quote from wikipedia:

"Numerous alternative terms have arisen that may sometimes be regarded as sub-groups of Generation Y. These include The Net Generation, Reagan Babies, Millennials, Hip Hop Generation, Echo Boomers, iGeneration, Second Baby Boom, the D.A.R.E. Generation, Google Generation, MySpace Generation, MyPod Generation (from the fusion of "MySpace" and "iPod"), Generation Next, Grand Theft Auto Generation, Nintendo Generation, the Halo Generation, Me Generation and the Cynical Generation. Because they are the youngest generation bearing witness to the September 11 attacks, other synonymous, American-specific labels that can be heard include Generation 9/11, and The Next (or Second) Greatest Generation. A Dutch newspaper also referred to this generation as the Einstein Generation, referring to the ability of the general member of this generation to perform many activities at the same time. Examples of this are chatting with friends via internet, while also doing their homework and watching TV at the same time."

Our defining characteristic is the ability to watch TV while doing our homework? Get me out of here. I never was any good at being in this generation anyway. I think nostalgia for NSnyc is required, and affection for Fluff.

And another post! I'm so amazing!

Here is my important cultural observation of the day:
The neighboring loon expressed consternation when I used the word "oochy." Its definition, for those similarly ignorant of its useful possibilities is:
Oochy (adj.): charactarized by a state similar to grumpiness but necessarily involving outward manifestation, such as snappiness and pettiness
And here ends the reading, brothers and sisters.

Being a loon. In the compound.

Что я здесь делаю?

I have just created a blog to avoid spending any more hours of this day sitting on my bed reading something for class. And that is all I have to say at the moment.
